Fiction is my first love, but poetry has always held a special place in my heart! I didn't write a lot of poetry as a child, but we were regularly introduced to poems by Black poets, and that had a significant impact on my childhood. I think this poiēma/poem epiphany is gonna continue to unfold in the back of my mind! :)
I was raised on the words of Black poets like Langston Hughes and Maya Angelou. My mama used to recite poetry to me before bed. Gwendolyn Brooks came to my school to read in Chicago and made me believe I, too, was a poet. 🫶🏾
Oh, that's so cool that Gwendolyn Brooks read poetry at your school! I'm a little jealous, lol! And yes, you just listed three of my favorite poets - and those are three who were definitely in the rotation for our Black History Month recitations, etc.
"I just have to find the balance between productive poring and “you’re overthinking it!" - I feel this 1000%. Thanking God in advance for the balance.
Thank you for offering this insight and reflection. It really expands my descriptions of God’s connections to creation.
As a fellow poet, I love this, thanks Nilwona!
This verse was one of the first verses to help me understand God's creativity in me. Thank you for this reminder!
Such a beautiful interpretation of that scripture thank you for sharing
I am also a lover of poetry 🌺
I love thinking of myself as God’s poem. Poetry is my heart language. Thank you for sharing your epiphany. 🫶🏾
